Spanish Pilgrimage

For a thousand years a long, hot, dangerous track over mountains, arid plains and rich countryside has led pilgrims to the great cathedral of St James at Santiago de Compostela. From Roncesvalles in the Pyrenees to rain-washed Galicia, the route covers all the variety of Northern Spain's countryside, with centuries of history and legend. With his wife and four-year-old son, Robin Hanbury-Tenison travelled this route the traditional way - riding white horses and with the pilgrim's scallop shell emblazoned on their shirts.
