"Clinical Endocrinology" provides a firm grounding in the basic sciences thus allowing the clinical sections to be understood. Detailed discussions, particularly on neuroendocrinology, and the molecular biology of autoimmune or other endocrine disease, have been included, but for the most part the approach is pragmatic and didactic - discussion of the merits of therapeutic options is followed by a firm recommendation. With the emphasis on diagnostic procedures currently in use and optimal therapies available, this volume includes coverage of clinical problems not often managed by endocrinologists - for example, obesity, anorexia and lipid disorders. A glossary of endocrine drugs is given.
