Photoshop is a painting and graphics package used primarily to enhance, colour or change photographic images. The book uses step-by-step procedures to illustrate basic tasks of the program and also teaches about colour theory, painting, editing, file formats, filters, colourizing, layering, using type, re-touching and colour correcting. It shows readers the skills necessary to obtain graphic artist-quality results. In addition, it provides tips on what equipment to use for both the PC and Macintosh platforms. The book opens with an introduction to Photoshop and how to create the Photoshop Studio - choosing the right computer, the right display and video card, choosing peripherals, and installing Photoshop. The next chapter explains the menus, windows, toolbox, palettes, ruler and type tool features. Subsequent chapters detail the selection tools, colour theory, using the painting and editing tools, layering, and using and creating custom brushes and patterns.
