The political aim of market integration has had a strong influence on competition policy, which has meant that any agreement of significance that tends to segment markets along national boundaries will fall within the Treaty of Rome. This includes many exclusive distribution, exclusive purchase and franchising agreements, and many such agreements will now fall within the terms of the "block exemption" regulations. This book provides an analysis and explanation of the subject in a Community context providing the relevant legislation and Treaty articles. Sufficient general explanation of EC law principles and practice are detailed for non-specialist lawyers. Although the main concern of this book is with competition rules, specific legislation on commercial agents is considered in the final chapter.
