This illustrated guide is designed to help people understand their roots and culture. It is the story of Christianity in Britain, focusing on its legacy in literature, art, law and customs. The book begins by introducing the concepts of "heritage" and culture, Christian heritage and the person of Jesus. Section two spins through history - the story of Christianity in Britain - Roman age, Dark Ages, medieval times, Reformation (Tudors and Stuarts), recent history (Georgian, Victorian and Christianity today). Section three looks at the legacy of Christianity in literature, art, law (constitution, institutions, education), customs and folklore. A postscript looks at current changes in culture, and Christianity beyond Britain.
