Croatia has become, after the independence, in 1992 a member of the UN and the WHO. It followed a period of transition in which a process of decentralisation of the political system had to be implemented. Within the frame of the Croatian healthcare system, the implementation of reforms is very important whose common goal is the advancement of the health care system and the realisation of patients' rights. Nevertheless, the phase of transition has also created some difficulties. The most actual problems of the Croatian healthcare system have been designated for the contents of this book. It is conceived and represented by an interdisciplinary team composed of the professors of the Department of Social Sciences and Medical Humanities of the Medical School, University of Rijeka: Professor PhD Amir Muzur, Head of the Department, Educator at the Department PhD Iva Rincic and Professor PhD Nada Gosic, and Associate Professor PhD Hrvoje Juric, educator at the Department of Ethics of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.
