The dispersion of the homogeneous field of metaphysics at the beginning of the 14th century goes to the discipline's very heart, denying its most vital concern, namely to establish exactly such a homogeneous field. At the same time, this terminology allows us to grasp more accurately what claim, according to the slogan of a postmetaphysical era, is rejected, namely the philosophical confidence that reality allows at all of description as a homogeneous field. Perhaps, these two - the early 14th century dispersion and the contemporary rejection of metaphysics - are not dissociated, and maybe one has to obtain a firm footing in the postmetapysical era in order to perceive the 14th century event in all its disrupting potency, i.e. as a matter of conflict.
