John has been studying backcountry lightning safety for 15 years and is a member of the Lightning Safety Team at the National Weather Service. He lives in Lander, WY. Scott Morris is a writer for NOLS based in Lander, Wyoming. He studied Adventure Education and History at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont before moving to the Rocky Mountains. In his free time Scott enjoys climbing big mountains and swimming, biking, and running around Lander. Before working for NOLS, Scott led wilderness canoe and backpacking trips for youth.
