When Jon Gibby wrote the third edition of his successful and popular book "Betting on Flat Handicaps" in 2005, he admitted that the growing influence of the betting exchanges and the ever increasing amount of information available to punters had made it harder to maintain an edge over the crowd. In order to preserve his advantage, he had to search for information not widely employed by other punters and to become better than them at interpreting it. Well-handicapped "Horses" brings punters up to date with the enforced changes that he has made to his methodology. Subjectivity has become his watchword and he now concentrates on interpreting the limited and often obscure form of lightly raced horses and seeks to identify and back those that are well-handicapped before the fact that they become obvious to the crowd.
