This work analyzes parliamentary representations in dualist Hungary, offering insight into the workings of a specifically Central European form of liberalism. It explains why the first modern attempt to establish a constitutional state in east central Europe was unsuccessful. At the same time it created a liberal framework for pre-Trianon multinational Hungary and the region as a whole for over half a century.
