VOC 1602-2002, 400 Years of Company Law consists of two parts. Part I deals with the history of company law, focussing on the Dutch East India Company ('VOC'), allegedly the first public limited liability company in the world, and its equals in a number of European countries.

Part II contains articles on various aspects of modern company law against the background of 400 years of company law. The English translation of the VOC Charter is just one of the remarkable features of this book.
