A-Z Wigan Street Atlas

The front cover has been redesigned with a new map extract and the title on the spine edge extended to read: WIGAN/ASHTON-IN-MAKERFIELD/LEIGH/SKELMERSDALE. The Contents and Reference panel on page 1 shows a new colour scheme that depicts important buildings with different colour infills e.g. educational establishments have an orange infill and hospitals and hospices have a green infill. Roads that have restricted access are shown with a purple infill and pedestrianized roads have a pink infill. Fire Stations and Post Offices are now shown by red squares and stars respectively, while Police Stations are represented by a blue triangle. The scale is shown in metric as well as imperial. A larger and more open type-face has been used in the index for better legibility and this has increased the total contents of the atlas from 80 to 88 pages. Selected places of interest are now listed within the street index and are highlighted in red text. Also within the index railway stations are now highlighted in blue text.
