Eighteen walkers have each described their favourite walk to guide you round the relatively little visited, but very scenic South Cotswolds. They have produced a really practical book to help you explore the treasures of the area. Each two page walk description is completely on view in the handy sized book, with no need to turn the page during a walk. Clear maps are based on OS mapping. Pub contact numbers are given, as are details of bus services. And some of the walks can be linked to give you several whole days out. One walk is a tour of the beautiful Slad Valley, immortalised by Laurie Lee in Cider with Rosie, and there are two walks from Painswick, the Queen of the Cotswolds. Others are from little known, but equally attractive places. Several touch on the Cotswold Way, with amazing views into Wales, the Malverns and the Marlborough Downs on a clear day. One walk visits reputedly the most remote village in the Cotswolds, Edgeworth. Another starts from Berkeley, passing the historic castle, walking up a riverside and later through the Deer Park. You can also tour Wotton-under-Edge and as a complete contrast there is a delightful walk by the horseshoe bend of the river Severn.
An extra feature is the linked website and here there are photographs, informative links to other websites about places and history en route, and in the future will be the place to look for any updates.
