The first of its kind, this book presents to the reader the spiritual foundations upon which the profession of occupational therapy (OT) is based. OT is a unique field in the health professions, which began to develop as a therapeutic method in the early twentieth century. The core of the book is the idea that the main concept of the OT profession originated in the existentialist philosophy and the humanist approach. These are the cornerstones of the therapeutic process. Therefore, the therapeutic act, in the author's opinion, incorporates both practical and spiritual aspects concerning the human essence of the sick person. As such, the main goal of the treatment becomes one designed to rehabilitate the fallen spirit of the patient.
