A textbook which covers all the experiments recommended for assessment for GCSE Chemistry. The book begins with advice to the teacher on assessment of practical work and relates the skills covered to the requirements of the various examining groups. The experiments themselves are all presented in units of one or two pages, for ease of use in the laboratory. Each experiment begins with an introduction to the chemistry of the topic and practical work is followed up by questions and suggestions for extension work. The book also contains investigations which allow students to develop problem-solving skills, for example: " What is the composition of washing poewders and how effective are they?", or "The use of forensic science to identify the criminal".
