Most thermodynamics textbooks are lacking in the more detailed chemical thermodynamics that are important to engineering and applied sciences and often include too much material, emphasizing breadth rather than depth. A better approach is to emphasize a solid grounding in the basics, as this book does. The key to this approach--which makes it different from every other textbook--is to present detailed development of the equations in a manner that an undergraduate student is able to follow. The text includes a large number of completely worked example problems to show the students how to use the theoretical principles and equations developed.
