Management and Conservation of Closed Forests in Tropical America

A concise, but comprehensive review, of the state of the indigenous tropical forests of central and South America. Introductory chapters look at the nature and extent of the forests followed by an explanation of the effects of different countries' policies to date. These are illustrated by six case studies. To conclude, the available data is drawn together and 3 options for future policy, which take into account physical, social, economic and technological factors, are suggested.
