As a child, Denny Martin Flinn grew hysterical and had to be taken from the theater when the Wicked Queen delivered the poisoned apple to Snow White. In love with classic films ever since, he eventually wrote How Not to Write a Screenplay, which has become a popular text for screenwriters. In the several decades in between he danced in, choreographed and directed American musicals from summer stock to Broadway, wrote the book Musical! A Grand Tour and the screenplay for Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. He lives with his wife and two children in Los Angeles, where he teaches musical theater and dance.
