Neuroendocrine Neoplasms of the Larynx

Although understanding of the different types of laryngeal neoplasms have improved in the last two decades, there is still a great deal of inaccuracy in their diagnosis and treatment. This volume provides the reader with an update on the pathological and clinical aspects of neuroendocrine neoplasms of the larynx, based on an analysis of the literature and on the personal experience of a group of international experts. Papers focus on terminology and classification of the neuroendocrine tumours. Four separate chapters provide a critical review of the literature of each of the four types of neuroendocrine neoplasm. Further chapters are concerned with modern immunohistochemical techniques, exchanges of opinions on nuclear ploidy in laryngeal neuroendocrine neoplasms, the tumours' neurological manifestations and their treatment. Although these papers may be considered a highly specialized aspect of laryngeal pathology, a proper knowledge of these neoplasms lies at the basis of their exact diagnosis and rational management.
