The Educational Policies of Catherine II

The author of this work investigates the origin of Russian educational efforts, focusing especially on the era of Catherine II and the «Russian Enlightenment». In the process of his investigation he discovers the significant contribution of a woman, whose personality and achievement demand a new interpretation for our time. The reign of Catherine II (1762-1796) may be seen as the era of «Russian Enlightenment».
