Diese Monografie des Künstlerkollektivs U5 umfasst die ersten dreizehn Jahre ihrer künstlerischen Praxis. Das assoziative und simultane Denken im Entstehungsprozess war für dieses Buches zentral. Die Texte des Künstlers und Kunstkritikers Christian Egger, der Kunsthistorikerin Nina Zschocke und der Kulturwissenschaftlerin und Kuratorin Helene Romakin, die sich mit der Bedeutung von kollaborativer Praxis und Autorschaft, Digitalität und Materialästhetik auseinandersetzen, bilden den kunsttheoretischen Rahmen für das kollektive Werk von U5.

Das enorme Archiv an Bildern, die von U5 gesammelt wurden, ist ein Kernelement dieser Publikation. Die Bilder erscheinen in visuellen Kategorien, die von den Autor_innen als Ergänzung zu den Texten vorgeschlagen wurden. Die Künstlerseiten wurden von U5 als Reaktion auf den Buchherstellungsprozess gestaltet und illustrieren das tiefe Eintauchen in das eigene Archiv.
 
This monograph by the artist collective U5 covers the first thirteen years of their artistic practice. The associative and simultaneous thinking in the creation process was central to this book. The texts of the artist and art critic Christian Egger, the art historian Nina Zschocke and the cultural scientist and curator Helene Romakin, who deal with the importance of collaborative practice and authorship, digitality and material aesthetics, form the art-theoretical framework for the collective work of U5.

The enormous archive of images collected by U5 is a core element of this publication. The images appear in visual categories suggested by the authors to complement the texts. The artist pages were designed by U5 in response to the book production process and illustrate the deep immersion into their own archive.
