The aim of this book has been to provide a practical guide to neuro-anaesthesia for more senior trainees and newer specialists. The scientific principles are covered, together with the detailed changes in intracranial mechanics with head injury and subarachnoid haemorrhage. Controversies in management are dealt with in detail, and an introduction to the more specialized intracranial pressure monitoring, cerebal blood flow measurements and electro-physiological monitoring is provided here. Intensive care is approached from the point of view of management of a patient with an isolated head injury; this should aid intensive care staff in understanding the aims of treatment of these patients.
