I always enjoyed maths at school, and I suppose it was inevitable that I would go into accountancy. At 18, I began my career and worked for several large Lincoln accountancy practices, gaining vast experience, before setting up my own firm in 2016. D&K Accounting was founded with the aim of bringing a fresh perspective to accounting and financial management and, although being self-employed is hard work, I enjoy what I do and especially like introducing my clients to innovative business methods and ideas.
Being well equipped to do the best I can for my clients is essential to me. I'm proud to be a Fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians and an Ambassador for the British Business Banks' Start-up Loans company, plus a Quickbooks platinum pro advisor.
In 2020 I became a Certified Profit First Professional, which is an excellent system of cash flow management, and my firm won SME News' Yorkshire Accountant of the Year Award. And now I have become a published author! It's been quite a 12 months for many reasons!
As much as I enjoy my work, my greatest love is for my family. I'm a daddy to Jamie and Cameron, partner to Katherine, and our family is made complete by two gorgeous dogs. I was asked about my likes and dislikes. I had to think about my likes, but I enjoy comedy, motorbikes, campervans, music, rugby and freemasonry. My dislikes are easy - Brussel sprouts and Covid!
