Crossed Currents

From 1917, when Yeoman Loretta Perfectus Walsh became the first US servicewoman who was not a nurse, to the infamous Tailhook scandal of today, women have struggled for acceptance within the US Navy. "Crossed Currents" tells of this ongoing conflict. On one side is the Navy, attempting to include women while, at the same time, fighting to retain its traditional values. On the other side are the women, challenging the Navy's assumptions, seeking to fulfill higher aspirations as the scope of opportunities widens.
