Wood biodeterioration and its prevention have been the subjects of study for many years as effective wood utilization and the control of biodeterioration are vital for the continuing success of this product worldwide. The timber trade and the associated activities of wood scientists and technologists and the applications of wood preservation techniques are of huge commercial importance internationally. Following a brief introductory section covering types of wood and wood structure, the book is divided into three sections. The first two sections cover microbial decay of wood and insect and marine borer attacks on wood while the third section provides comprehensive coverage of wood preservation and protection against biodeterioration.
