This volume contains the texts of the plenary and contributed papers which are being presented at the Twelfth International Conference on Raman Spectroscopy at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina from 13-17 August 1990. Among these are summaries from the 40 invited contributors whose focused talks will be presented in the topical session of biological systems, semiconductors, high T superconductors, nonlinear techniques, the solid state and Raman techniques applications.
