"A heady mix of the quirky, the spooky and the fabulous, each page is a delight." The Scotsman
Join fabulous vampire Vlad as he learns to embrace his pink cheeks and and find his confidence!
Vlad's passion is fashion. And just like every other vampire, Vlad dresses head to toe in the colour black. But unlike other vampires, Vlad has bright pink cheeks: cheeks that make him look, and feel, so different. Vlad tries to hide behind his clothes and his cape but, as it turns out, being yourself - truly yourself - is the most fabulous way to be.
An uplifting and charming celebration of our differences set in the same monster universe as the New York Times #1 bestseller, Gustavo, the Shy Ghost and Leila, the Perfect Witch.
"This sweet, unspooky picture book about revealing your true self is elevated by Drago's enticingly detailed illustrations, enlivened by riotous flashes of pink." Guardian
"A heartwarming exploration of self-discovery and acceptance, inviting readers to celebrate their differences and find pride in their uniqueness." Books for Keeps
Rezensionen / Stimmen
This sweet, unspooky picture book about revealing your true self is elevated by Drago's enticingly detailed illustrations, enlivened by riotous flashes of pink. -- Imogen Russell Williams * The Guardian * Blending Halloween characters and Day of the Dead traditions, Flavia's illustrations are rich in depth and style and each scene tells its own mini story. A heady mix of the quirky, the spooky and the fabulous, each page is a delight. * The Scotsman * A heartwarming exploration of self-discovery and acceptance, inviting readers to celebrate their differences and find pride in their uniqueness. * Books for Keeps * Drawing on her Mexican heritage, Flavia Drago mixes folk art with cartoon style in her illustrations, adding brighter hues to her colour palette as Shelley leads Vlad towards self-affirmation. Yes you might share this one at Halloween time, but its vital message is for all times. * Red Reading Hub * This isn't a very scary vampire story - no blood or frightening bats - but a rather gentle story about liberating your real identity and realising that there are other people out there like you, even if you don't always see them at first glance. * The Letterpress Project *
