Pillnitz Castle and Park

Pillnitz Castle and Park are among the most splendid examples of Dresden Residence culture. This extraordinary ensemble of architecture and garden art blends harmoniously with the river landscape. Elector August the Strong commissioned the Bergpalais and the Wasserpalais in the early 18th century as a location for court festivities and games. The Wettins' summer residence, with its East Asian elements, is seen today as Europe's most important palace complex in the Chinoiserie style.
