In this book, we propose a multicentre model with several types of traps (shallow, phosphorescent, and deep) and two competing recombination centres. A system of kinetic equations was written and solutions of the equation were obtained in analytical form for the concentrations of free and localized charge carriers during and after excitation of the crystal. These solutions made it possible to obtain the dependences of luminescence intensity and conductivity, which coincide well with the experimental results. The obtained kinetic dependences expand the possibilities of applying the classical theories of photoluminescence and photoconductivity to the study of real crystals. This consideration complements the classical kinetic theories of photoluminescence and photoconductivity. New approaches to studying the kinetics of luminescence and conductivity of crystals under photo- and X-ray excitation open up promising directions for the targeted search for new crystals and improved traditional crystals for optoelectronic devices based on broadband semiconductors and dielectrics.

DrSc Professor Volodymyr Ya. Degoda is a leading researcher at the Department of Experimental Physics, Faculty of Physics, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University, Ukraine. Degoda was born on April 28, 1953 in the city of Kyiv. In 1975 he graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University, where since 1975 he has been working at the Department of Experimental Physics.
He specialises in Optics and Solid State Physics, and obtained a Candidate of Science (PhD) degree in 1988, as well as a Doctor of Science (DrSc) degree in 2001.
Degoda's research interests include the kinetics of recombination luminescence and the conductivity of crystal phosphors. He has published more than 120 articles in scientific journals.
