Rules of the Road

This is one of a series for the novice sailor which provides illustrated information on owning and sailing a boat, with emphasis on the practical. The book is based around the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea - the sailor's "highway code" - and is designed to give small-craft skippers a knowledge of what is required of them and what to expect from others. Its topics include how the rules evolved, traffic separation schemes, use of VHF, and sound and light signals. Also included are commentaries on the rules and their application in real situations.
