A passage guide designed to help yachtsmen and motorboaters to plan their offshore passages, covering all the popular routes from the UK and presenting a wide range of factors which navigators have to bear in mind, including heavy weather and poor visibility. "Channel Crossings" is a completely new style of guide which deals with the many factors and decisions involved in making specific passages across open stretches of water. Although not a pilot book, it gives pilotage and navigational details necessary for making a safe landfall and for entering the harbours at each end of the passages covered. These details include lights and buoyage, RDF beacons, Decca waypoint advice, tidal streams and tidal heights. Heavy weather conditions and strategies are discussed, and for each passage a special section highlights factors which are especially relevant for high-speed motor cruisers.
