Wilkie Collins (8 January 1824 - 23 September 1889) was an English novelist and playwright who, it has been proposed, was the writer of the first modern English detective novel; The Murders in the Rue Morgue. Don Rico (1912-1985) was an American paperback novelist, screenwriter and comic book aritst. He was described as a prodigy child artist and began illustrating comics in 1939, in the era now called the Golden Age of Comics.
