Arming the reader with the tools and vocabulary of literary criticism this book shows that the apparently daunting jargon of literary criticism can be expressed and understood in everyday language. The book is divided into sections on prose, poetry and theatre, and uses examples from a variety of writing including lesser known pieces. Exercise sections develop through the book to equip the reader to face almost any "unseen" work of literature. There is also a glossary of literary terms.
