Written with the co-operation of Richard Carpenter and his family, this is a biography of Richard and his sister, Karen. It focuses not only on The Carpenters' pop-music career but also on Karen's anorexia, as a result of which, unhappily married and a millionairess, she died at the age of 32. With Richard as musical director and songwriter, she had enjoyed a long run of success with hits such as "Top of the World", "For All We Know" and "Yesterday Once More".
