Serials Cataloging: The State of the Art assesses serials cataloging with special emphasis in two areas: the rules by which the cataloging record is created and the automation of that record. It consists of a series of articles, each dealing with serials work in a different European COMECON country--the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania. Written by serials experts within their respective countries, each chapter presents a unique "view from within."
