Guide to Review of Library Collections

Designed to assist librarians and others who review materials in general collections for preservation, storage, or withdrawal, this guide is based on review and study of the literature, examination of a variety of existing policies, and comments and contributions from committee members, consultants asnd professionals colleagues. It is intended for those with responsibility for collection management, preservation and library administration. This handy work also provides background information to institutions considering resource sharing; institutions establishing and administering collection management programmes; and members of governing bodies considering authorization of a review programme. Specific topics include planning for review documentation, identification of materials in need of preservation, elements of a storage review programme, and periodical and standing order deselection.
