Audley End was built by the first Earl of Suffolk, Lord Treasurer to King James I. This multi-period house became a royal palace when Charles II bought it in 1668, after Suffolk's fall from power. This revised edition incorporates an extensive new section of the gardens and landscape of Audley End.
