Paths to Russia is the memoir of a soldier in Hitler's Wermacht who became an economic ambassador, bringing western-style business into the USSR, and is today one of the most successful and powerful businessmen in Europe. F. Wilheim Christians returned to Russia in 1969 as Chairman of Deutsche Bank to begin what was to become a series of the most important East/West business ventures in the history of their Cold War relations. He was responsible for loaning billions to the Soviets in order to build the Siberian Gasline and the Yamal Pipeline, among other projects.
