Taiwan is a world leader in aquaculture, noted for pioneering the cultivation of a wide variety of species, from fish and seaweed to frogs and shellfish. The last major work on Taiwanese aquaculture was published by the author's father, T. P. Chen in 1976, but much has happened since then, with the development of intensive culture systems, pelletized feed, automatic feeders and other advances. This book details recent practices in aquaculture of more than 40 species and discusses financial and economic aspects as well as the enviornmental impact of aquaculture on the island.
