S Chatterjee is presently a member of faculty in the Operations Management area at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad. He is a Mechanical Engineer from BITS, Pilani, and obtained a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore and his Ph.D. from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. He began his professional career with TELCO, Pune, where he worked for two years in the production and maintenance departments. Dr Chatterjee then worked with BHEL, Bhopal, for over 17 years. In 2002, he shifted to an academic career and has been a guest faculty at IIM, Indore, and the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. He has also conducted programmes on materials management for the Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi. He now lectures widely on materials management and related subjects, and conducts regular programmes for ASCI in this area.
