Not Yet Home

Justin Cartwright was sent on a journalistic assignment to cover the 1995 World Cup Rugby in South Africa, where he grew up. This is the story of his return and travels there. His part-autobiographical, part-sports commentary, part-cultural account is infused with unusual insights. He watches a rugby match with a Soweto gangster Godfrey Moloi, and analyzes the parliamentary rugby team at the same time. He draws on his knowledge of South Africa and ponders all kinds of conundrums from the national cultural dilemma to the enormous size of the Springbok's derrieres.
