During March, April and May 2020, after the coronavirus outbreak, Venice was in lockdown and totally deserted for probably the first time in its history. Luc and Danielle Carton, who have lived in Venice since 2005, were lucky enough to be able to photograph the most beautiful city in the world in such exceptional circumstances.
Their photos are a rare testimony of this extraordinary time.
A unique report.

Danielle and Luc Caron have lived in Venice since 2007. In 2006 they set up the websites visit-venice-italy.com and e-venise.com; the first attracts 600,000 visits per year, while with 2.5 million visits per year, e-venise.com (4,000 pages and 50,000 photographs) is now the foremost French-language website on Venice. Honorary citizens of the city of Venice (they have received the ‘Diploma de Benemerito’), Danielle and Luc own a sandolo that they learned to row standing up, Venetian-style. They regularly participate in the traditional Vogolonga rowing regatta.
