Oklahoma's rich representation of reptiles and amphibians has been studied since the 1850s, and this new annotated bibliography offers a ready resource for all published accounts. The authors have read and annotated all available information, beginning with exportations in the mid-18th century, continuing with the early field trips of A.I. Ortenburger and the extensive amphibian research of A.N. Bragg, and concluding with reports published in 1987. 1536 references cover scientific treatises and popular accounts, fossil and archaeological discoveries and recent taxonomic and distribution reports, as well as theses and dissertations. Key words refer to a great variety of disciplines, from ecology to history, as well as to all families and genera of extant Oklahoma reptiles and amphibians. This bibliography is designed for use by professional and amateur herpetologists, zoologists, wildlife specialists, ecologists, archaeologists, paleontologists and others seeking information on any aspect of Oklahoma reptiles and amphibians, past or present.
