Parties, Slavery and the Union in Antebellum Georgia

This work examines the reasons behind Georgia's secession from the Union in 1861, and the preceding three decades. It focuses on political actions and social context. The author identifies ""the protection of white men's liberty and the defense of African slavery"" as key ideologies.
