This guidebook contains a detailed route description for the entire Lleyn Peninsula coastal path for walkers, as well as route options for both mountain and road bikes. Each chapter ends with two or three shorter circular walks or rides which provide a taste of the different sections of the Lleyn. The coastal path starts in Caernarfon and follows the peninsula anti-clockwise to finish in Portmadoc. Its 95 miles contain a variety of cliff, dune, moor and mountain which is unsurpassed. This route can be completed within a week without too much exertion. There is not a continuous path alongside the Lleyn's shores and to walk the peninsula demands occasional sorties inland for a mile or two, so that existing rights of way can be used. This means ascending hills parallel with the coast, or visiting villages just inland. Nevertheless, the sea is rarely out of sight, and the majority of the walk stays close to the shoreline.
Rezensionen / Stimmen
'This is the second edition of this handy pocket guide, stuffed full of details for following the route described. There are sketch maps, OS maps and even some photos with routes drawn on them. The north coastal path largely follows the old pilgrimage route to Bardsey Island off the end of the peninsula. This gives interesting routes to follow and interesting churches and ruins to investigate on the way. This is a treasure of an area, of which the Dublin walker may take easy advantage.'(Irish Mountain Log / Summer 2007)

John Cantrell is retired and lives in Snowdonia. He took to the outdoors at an early age and has skiied, walked and climbed all over Europe. His first guide was a history of Sarn Helen, bringing new interest to the roman roads of Wales.
