Marti Caine grew up on a Sheffield council estate and achieved stardom as a comedienne after starting her career on the night club circuit. Having been told that she had terminal cancer, and then fighting it, she set about documenting her experiences and thoughts. This book is the result, and it interweaves her diary of a nine-month battle to beat her malignancy with hilarious, and sometimes shocking, memories from her earlier life. The reminiscences include the story of her drug-addict mother, her own teenage marriage and motherhood, her struggles in the raw world of showbusiness, her happy second marriage and the harsh reality of serious illness.
