A guide to the current homiletical landscape. Four prominent figures in contemporary preaching have been Fred Craddock's 'problem-solving' strategy, Eugene Lowry's 'suspense-driven' method, David Buttrick's 'motion-picture' approach, and Paul Scott Wilson's 'four pages' strategy. Preaching Biblical Sermons surveys these four sermon forms. With the changing nature of sermons in the last decade seeing a shift from content based to an increase in the importance of shape and structure, the current revolution in preaching offers preachers a plethora of new sermon forms. Bystrom offers sample sermons in each form, given by each of the founders and in addition sets out the theology behind each approach, and he evaluates each strategy for its strengths and weaknesses.
