Veterinary practitioners are faced regularly by diseases and disorders in a large and ever increasing range of small mammal patients, as pets, in laboratories and breeding colonies, in zoos, and in the wild. In gathering together contributions from 29 experts, the editors deal with all aspects of medicine and surgery in small mammals, giving due respect to common species such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, hedgehogs, ferrets, and mice without ignoring primates, squirrels, foxes, potbellied pigs, raccoons, and many more.
The self-assessment format is used to reflect experience in practice, and to enable the reader to think through each case from first principles. Each of the 225 questions and illustrations--color photos, imaging, charts, and tables is followed by a thorough explanation to provide diagnosis and a suggested treatment plan.
