This book is designed to provide an overview of practice reasoning in the context of occupational therapy history. The authors explore relevant reasoning issues using the "practice reasoning framework", the concept which defines and describes the impact of environmental and domain influences on practice reasoning. The chapters in this book include the examination of: the application of attention directing frameworks to improve practice; the framework in which clinical and professional reasoning occurs; concepts that discuss naming and framing; concepts that discuss service delivery, teaching and learning; technology as a reasoning tool; and future trends in research and practice. Each chapter includes an outline of content and a graphical illustration of key sections in a flow diagram format. A short text summary of contents, key terms for the chapter, and learning objectives are outlined. Chapters are divided into four or five key constructs, prefaced by practice scenarios and reflective activities designed to reinforce learning material.
Readers are led to relate prior chapter learning to the new learning materials and to underscore the relevance of practice reasoning across individual, group and population contexts.
