This book presents a close look at the major integrated library systems that operate on personal computers under the MS-DOS operating system. The aim was to provide a set of consistently written, even-handed reviews. The author personally reviewed each of the products in the book and tried to follow the same procedures in the evaluation of each of the integrated library systems. The author worked through each of the modules of the system, beginning with the online catalogue and progressing to the cataloguing and circulation modules. Acquisitions and serials control modules were reviewed where they were included in systems. The author determined whether each module contained the features and characteristics described in a checklist which he developed to measure the features and characteristics of integrated library systems.
